Bharathi College of Education, Chinnasalem, established in 1997 and affiliated with the Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University (TNTEU, Affiliation Code: 13002), has long been recognized as a premier institution for teacher training in Tamil Nadu.

To maintain academic excellence, professional integrity, and holistic development, the college has framed a comprehensive set of rules and regulations that every student must follow. Every student enrolling in our B.Ed. program is expected to adhere to these rules, which cover academic conduct, behavioral expectations, safety measures, co-curricular engagement, digital ethics, and residential discipline. General Code of Conduct

• Students are expected to conduct themselves with dignity, respect, and integrity at all times, both on-campus and off-campus during college-related activities.

• Politeness and courteous behavior towards teachers, staff, peers, and visitors are mandatory.

• Misbehavior, use of abusive language, bullying, or any act that harms the reputation of the college is strictly prohibited.

• Students must carry their college identity cards at all times and produce them when requested.

• Participation in any activity that endangers the safety or reputation of the college community is a serious offense and will invite disciplinary action.

Attendance & Academic Punctuality

• As per TNTEU regulations, a minimum of 80% attendance in theory classes and 90% in practical/teaching practice sessions is compulsory.

• Students who fail to meet the attendance requirement will not be allowed to sit for university examinations.

• Attendance is recorded daily; parents/guardians may be informed in case of chronic absenteeism.

• Leave of absence must be applied in advance, and medical leaves must be supported with certified documents.

• Regularity and punctuality are considered fundamental traits of professional teachers.

Dress Code & Professional Appearance

• Maintaining a professional appearance reflects the dignity of the teaching profession.

• Boys: Formal shirts, trousers, polished shoes, neatly combed hair.

• Girls: Saree, salwar-kameez, or other professional attire; modest clothing in line with cultural norms. Hair must be neatly tied.

• ID cards must be worn visibly at all times.

• Casual wear such as jeans, T-shirts, leggings, or flashy accessories is prohibited during academic hours.

• Students are encouraged to present themselves as role models in public and on-campus engagements.

Anti-Ragging Policy

• The college strictly enforces a zero-tolerance policy against ragging, in compliance with UGC and Tamil Nadu Government regulations.

• Ragging includes verbal abuse, physical harassment, psychological intimidation, or any act causing mental or physical discomfort.

• Students found guilty of ragging will face immediate expulsion and may be prosecuted under legal provisions.

• An Anti-Ragging Committee and Helpline operate within the campus to address complaints confidentially.

Classroom & Academic Discipline

• Students must arrive 5–10 minutes before class begins. Late entry without permission is prohibited.

• Active participation in seminars, workshops, group discussions, and teaching practice is expected.

• Mobile phones must be switched off during lectures unless used for academic purposes with permission.

• Cheating, plagiarism, or disruptive behavior is strictly prohibited.

• Students must respect faculty instructions, classroom decorum, and peer learning.

Library Rules & Intellectual Conduct

• The library is a quiet study zone; phones and discussions are discouraged.

• Students may borrow 2 books at a time for 14 days, with fines applicable for late returns or damaged books.

• Reference materials and journals are non-circulatory and must be used on-site.

• Students are encouraged to utilize digital resources, e-books, and research journals to enhance learning.

• Library usage fosters independent study, research skills, and critical thinking.

Laboratories & Practical Learning

• All laboratories (Science, Psychology, ICT, Language) are strictly for academic purposes.

• Students must follow safety protocols, handle equipment carefully, and report damages immediately.

• Misuse of resources may result in fines or suspension of access.

• Each student is responsible for signing in/out of laboratory registers.

• Practical exposure ensures students develop hands-on skills, essential for future teaching assignments.

Hostel & Residential Guidelines

• Separate hostels for boys and girls with supervision by wardens are provided.

• Curfew timings: Girls – 8:00 PM | Boys – 9:00 PM (strict adherence required).

• Visitors are allowed only during visiting hours and must be approved.

• Strict prohibition: alcohol, smoking, drugs, or any prohibited activity.

• Hostels maintain cleanliness, discipline, and safety; students must contribute to a harmonious living environment.

• Hostels encourage community living, responsibility, and cultural exchange among students.

Campus Conduct & Safety

• The campus is tobacco-free, alcohol-free, and drug-free.

• Students must respect college property; any damage will incur penalties.

• Unauthorized meetings, gatherings, or political activities are prohibited.

• Fire safety rules, first aid, and emergency procedures must be strictly followed.

• Cooperation with security personnel and administrative staff is mandatory.

Examination & Evaluation Protocols

• Students must adhere to TNTEU guidelines for exams and evaluation.
